Description

Compressed Da Hong Pao Tea Bar embodies heritage tea craftsmanship in a compact form. This medium-roasted oolong is pressed into a bar, inviting tactile and aromatic complexity. The leaves deliver a strong fruit fragrance and a rich, mellow aroma with a sense of maturity. Each bar reflects careful leaf selection and traditional pressing, designed to concentrate character while preserving subtlety. In limited batches, it offers true provenance and a refined, collector-level presence.

To brew, break off a fragment and follow the traditional gongfu method for oolong tea; the compression requires a higher water temperature to allow the leaves to unfurl and release their flavor. This approach reveals layers of sweetness, fruit notes, and a lasting finish, making it ideal for contemplative tastings, quiet mornings, or ceremonial rituals. A prudent choice for connoisseurs and collectors seeking enduring value from a singular, artisan-crafted tea bar.

  • Pressed, bar-format Da Hong Pao—a compact presentation that concentrates aroma and flavor while preserving provenance.
  • Medium-roast profile with a pronounced fruit fragrance and a rich, mellow aftertaste.
  • Gongfu-ready preparation—break a fragment and brew using the traditional method; high-temperature water required to unfurl the leaves.
  • Limited batch release—crafted in small numbers to accentuate rarity and collector appeal.
  • Heritage and craftsmanship—rooted in traditional tea-making techniques, designed for long-term enjoyment and proper storage to preserve character.

Brewing Method

Use a sturdy tool, like a Pu-erh tea pick or a small knife, to break off a 1/5 or 1/4 of the bar.
Pour boiling water (100°C / 212°F) into your teapot or Gaiwan.
For the first steep, infuse for about 15-20 seconds. The compressed leaves need slightly more time to open up compared to loose-leaf oolongs.
Pour the brewed tea into your fairness pitcher, then into your small drinking cups.
Da Hong Pao can be steeped many times, with the flavor profile evolving with each new infusion.
Adjust steeping time: For each subsequent infusion, add 5–10 seconds to the steeping time.
Enjoy the complexity: As the leaves expand, the flavor will change and reveal new layers of aroma and taste. You can get 6 to 8 quality infusions from a single serving of leaves.
